Why is it so important? Babies naturally regulate how fast they nurse. At the breast, the baby starts, stops, pauses, gulps, rests, etc. Whenever a baby feeds with a bottle, it is best to use the "paced" bottle feeding method.
Otherwise, the infant is forced to swallow the liquid coming out of a vertical bottle - fast.
With the "paced" bottle feeding method, the infant controls the "pace" of the feed.
